Trouble Makers

“Trouble Maker”
I was reading the story of Elijah Vs the 450 prophets of baal and the 400 prophets of asherah(1 Kings 18:1-40),when a picture of the battle the church is engaged in. Elijah was outnumbered physically, however on top of that Israel’s leader, Ahab (1 Kings 16:29) had a distorted perception if YHWHS servant Elijah. The WORD OF GOD states that Ahab said “art thou he that’s disturbs Israel (1 Kings 18:17). Picture that. The ones called by YHWH to exhort and direct the people in continuos fellowship with YAHWEH was looked upon as a troublemaker, disturber of peace. Then to top it off, the people are in fellowship with Ahab’s mindset.
For in 1 Kings 18:20,21 Ahab goes and gathers all the children of Israel together and next we see Elijah, through GOD’S grace petitioning the people to make a choice. Elijah says to the people; “How long shall you hesitate to make a choice? If the LORD be GOD, follow HIM: but if baal, follow him, and the people answered him without a word.
Listen, the wicked proclaims that Believers have become the thorn in the side of the US. How so?
Because of the truths “from YHWH” that we declare. Somehow the people had become comfortable in the state of rebellion.
“Recap:The WORD OF YHWH says “Ahab did evil in the sight of ADONAI, above all that were before him, and did provoke the LORD GOD to anger more than all the kings before him 1 Kings 16:30,33.”
So it’s not like they were unaware of what kind of man they were following. For from the days of Saul, for the most part all the kings of Israel before Ahab were wicked, as well as the kings of Judah. (except Asa Jehoshaphat). But GOD was gracious much as HE is today, for HE sends HIS manservant for or “against those HE has chosen.
My point in all this for the most part is the complacency of the people. History recorded the faithfulness of GOD towards the entire nation. So whether “we” really believe it or not, the evidence of YHWHS love was evident. With that in mind, now think about Elijah’s words in 1 Kings 18:21 “If the god of sexual immorality, greed, passivity, wounds, at be god CHOOSE IT!! But if YHWH CHOOSE HIM!!!
You know, there were probably some in the nation who didn’t directly or consciously worship the false gods. But instead had a mindset like Lot. Uh O.
When Lot made his choice, this is what he saw: “and Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (be careful all that looks good is not always from GOD that includes people) before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, “even as the garden of the LORD “, like the land of Egypt as thou comest into Zoar. Genesis 13:10
Tranquility must have been his perception, little did he know what he was in store for (Ummm, ummm I’m hearing something personal).
Here’s a question :This apparent lush land was already populated by who? The same people that depressed him so much he sat at the gate of the city wondering what have I done. There are some who state that the place where he sat was where chiefs usually gave judgement. One thing for sure Lot was not a troublemaker.
Let me ask some important questions.
1)Are you the one who came to sojourn and will now try to judge?
2)How long will you halt between loyalty to YHWH and loyalty to your open or secret god’s. How long will you halt between clinging to the heart of YHWH or pampering “soulish emotions” of yourself &/or people? If YHWH be GOD, FOLLOW HIM!!!
3)Will you continue on like Lot because these wicked people invest a lot of money in schools, communities, churches?
4)Will you act like the pharisees and be more concerned with a relationship with the government? Jn 11:47-53.
The Life of a troublemaker is indeed loaded with its own sufferings, but may we ever be mindful or the exhortation of the MESSIAH
